Trusted Hartford Family Law Attorney
Hartford, Connecticut, the “Insurance Capital of the World,” is only a few minutes drive from my office. I remember imagining that I was sharing the streets with the ghost of Mark Twain while I was a student at the University of Connecticut School of Law. As a respected Hartford Family Law Attorney, when someone contacts me about a family law issue, however, there is no time left for daydreaming.
Few events in life are more disturbing than the intrusion of the government into your private life. In some cases it is necessary, such as when a family law court must adjudicate a property dispute between divorcing spouses. In other cases someone is abusing the legal system by, for example, making a false allegation of child abuse to gain an advantage in a child custody dispute. If you are in need of a Hartford Family Law Lawyer, I have the experience you can count on.
You Are a Person, Not a Case Number
It is my job to protect the interests of my clients from a legal system that can be callous, impersonal, complex, and brutally competitive. Each client comes to me with his or her special needs and concerns, and I learned long ago that no two cases are exactly alike. I will help you craft an individualized strategy to achieve your goals as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Criminal Defense for Both Juveniles and Adults
I also represent clients charged with criminal offenses, especially where they impact family law issues. I am particularly experienced in representing juveniles before the juvenile criminal court system. The juvenile system works very differently from the adult criminal court system, and experience working in one system does not automatically translate into expertise in the other.
A Client Speaks Out…
“Attorney Wing helped me prove my son was eligible for special education and to negotiate for special pupil services. He was attentive to us and showed real concern for my son. The school seemed to both respect him and be a little intimidated.”

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Driver License Compact?
The Driver License Compact is an an arrangement between most state governments under which they share information about the driving records of each other’s citizens. The goal is to prevent a driver from “whitewashing” his driving record by moving to another state and getting a new driver’s license. Connecticut is a member of the Driver License Compact.
What is the difference between a legal separation and a divorce?
A legal separation is a court action, short of a formal divorce, that generates court orders concerning:
- Property division
- Child custody
- Child support
- Alimony
- Other relevant matters
If one party later decides to seek a formal divorce, the previous court orders will generally remain in place. If the two parties reconcile, they may also file a declaration of resumption of marital relations and have their separation reversed. It is critical that you seek representation from a knowledgeable and proven Hartford family law attorney that can answer your questions and help you through whatever family law matter that you are face with.
If my Connecticut Driver’s license is suspended, can I get a special permit to driver to and from work or school?
Perhaps. You may apply to the Connecticut DMV for an education or work permit. But be aware that significant restrictions apply, including but not limited to:
- No previous alcohol-related offenses
- No more than two moving violations on your driving history
- No current suspension for failure to appear
What does the Department of Children and Families (DCF) do?
The DCF responds when someone reports concerns about a child’s safety. The DCF will investigate the report. Although cooperation with the DCF is usually voluntary without a court order, the DCF can under certain circumstances remove a child from his home for up to 96 hours without a court order. A court order can greatly expand the DCF’s authority.
